Opening Reception: Thursday, September 10, 7 - 9 PM, free and open to all
Abstract painter, encaustic pioneer and musician Robin Rose will create experiential new work that combines performance, sound and drawing. The exhibit will also include Rose’s trademark encaustic paintings which quietly glow with intense energy, color, pattern and texture, providing the framework for the exploratory process leading to these timely, interactive, experiments.
This innovative exhibition will feature both encaustic paintings and a series of related interactive sound drawings created through a method developed by Rose which amplifies the sound of the pen on paper as it forms lines and as those lines undulate, cross and interact with each other. In developing this exhibit experience Rose combines his work as a visual artist with his background as a professional musician. The project will also feature a series of performance workshops open to the public and lead by the artist.
Workshops will be held at McLean Project for the Arts, 1234 Ingleside Avenue, McLean, VA 22101
